The Pakistani government has planned to distribute mobile phones nationwide on an installment plan. It is important to note that the government has previously undertaken similar initiatives. Kistpay, a platform that didn’t charge interest or markup on purchases, was first offered in 2022. Since all of the cellphones that are visible on the official website are in the “coming soon” section, the platform is sadly still not fully operational. Reliable sources have stated that the government has requested proposals on how to distribute all mobile phone varieties across Pakistan in convenient installments. In this regard, yesterday’s significant meeting, presided over by the Director General of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, informed representatives of all mobile phone providers. According to reports, the government intends to make it simple for Pakistanis to purchase smartphones by establishing convenient installment options.

The government aims to pass a law governing cellphones, following which all Pakistanis with identity cards will be able to purchase mobile devices from corporations over the course of many months. The mobile phone user’s identity card or IMEI will be disabled in the event of non-payment of an installment or default. In the coming days, it will be taken into confidence by all departments while it is being finished.
