Why WWE Seemingly Wrote Matt Riddle Off Of Television With Injury Angle [Report]

On the surface, it looks that WWE’s decision to have Solo Sikoa destroy Matt Riddle on Monday Night Raw this week was done to set up a programme between the two WWE Superstars. If that’s the case, it’s possible, but don’t look for the match to happen anytime soon, according a report. In fact, don’t anticipate seeing Riddle on television for some time.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live, Matt Riddle’s stretcher angle on Monday’s Raw, during which he was taken out by medical personnel, was intended to eliminate him off the programme. In other words, he’s taking a break—either because of a real injury or because he has time off planned. Alvarez could not say why, only that it appears that Riddle will be missing a few weeks of television.

WWE has previously hinted this, but Riddle has always returned fairly shortly. When he was competing against Seth Rollins, he used an injury angle, but he wasn’t out for more than a week. Additionally, it seems strange to kill him now given that he has been working with Elias. But when Kevin Owens replaced Elias in their Tag Team Championship bout and then Riddle was damaged in the Sikoa storyline, Monday’s show hinted to a probable breakup between Elias and Riddle. WWE might be reevaluating their hopes for a tag team with these two.

When Will Riddle Be Back?

He might be injured for a while and then return at this year’s Royal Rumble to a warm welcome from the WWE Universe. If he’s healthy, that would put him on a trajectory to play a significant role at WrestleMania, a show he won’t want to miss.
