New Zealand First to Qualify, England and Australia in Tussle for 2nd Spot
Australia defeated Afghanistan in an exciting battle in their final Super 12 game on Friday, November 4 at the Adelaide Oval, moving them into the top two of Group A of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022.
After defeating Ireland by 35 runs in their last-round encounter earlier today, the Kane Williamson-led team advanced to the semifinal rounds with a respectable run rate of +2.113 and seven points on the points table.
Australia now has seven points, but they will be eliminated from the tournament if the Jos Buttler-led squad defeats Sri Lanka in tomorrow’s final match at Sydney Cricket Ground.
It should be noted that although though England and Australia will both have the same number of points if they defeat the champions of the Asia Cup in 2022, England will have the advantage of moving on to the semifinals due to their better run rate.
