Goldberg Reveals Which WWE Star He Believes Can Beat Roman Reigns

Throughout Roman Reigns’ tenure as a heel, a lot of guys have attempted—and failed—to defeat him, but no one has been able to do so after 25 months.

Over a thousand days have passed since the tribal chief was last pinned. On December 15 of that year, at the TLC 2019 pay-per-view, he lost via pinfall to King Corbin, but even it wasn’t a straightforward defeat. Corbin defeated Reigns that evening with some help from Dolph Ziggler and The Revival.

One of the notable figures who attempted to unseat Reigns during the latter’s record-breaking Universal Championship tenure was WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg (at Elimination Chamber 2022). In an interview with Ring Rules, Goldberg said he believes a number of celebrities “are capable of” defeating Reigns. The former professional football player even identified one of his own former adversaries.

“I firmly believe that a handful of superstars are more than capable of unseating him. It must be one-on-one and at the proper time and location, according to Goldberg. It’s difficult because he now has a bodyguard system built into The Usos that works well for him. Brock most certainly will have the chance to do it when he comes back.

“Like I said, I believe there are a lot of contestants on the card on both shows and both programmes that could defeat him, but everything needs to line up just exactly. We have witnessed his strong dominance over the past year or more. It will take a unique individual to emerge and depose him. I believe there are a few individuals who are more than capable.”

Reigns defeated his longtime foe in the most recent match in their feud, even if Lesnar himself doesn’t lose all that frequently. At Crown Jewel 2021, WrestleMania 38 (a “Winner Takes All” championship unification match), and SummerSlam 2022, The Tribal Chief defeated Lesnar. The later match was a Last Man Standing contest that Reigns just barely defeated with assistance from The Usos.

We’ll see if WWE lives up to its hype that this is the last contest in their long-running feud. Reigns and Lesnar also faced off at WrestleMania 31, WrestleMania 34, The Greatest Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam 2018 (Seth Rollins won the Money in the Bank contract that evening to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion).
