Aftab Iqbal, a well-known TV broadcaster from Pakistan, came under fire earlier this week during the tri-series in New Zealand for criticising Babar Azam’s egotism and saying that he was no longer a star in his eyes.
Days later, the all-format captain gave an odd response to Aftab’s criticism, adding, “By the way, I have no idea who you are referring about. I’ve never even met him. These things occur whether we win or lose.
The renowned TV host appeared to apologise to the star batter last night, but it didn’t seem to be a sincere apology because the host tried to portray himself as a bigger fan of Babar Azam while not realising that he was a celebrity.
He responded, “Countless, it is not the first time,” when asked whether he saw any beneficial aspects of the criticism he received on social media after making his statement on the all-format captain during a live broadcast.
The TV host continued in response to the query by stating that the key point of the critique is that the supporters believe “Daikho Aftab Bhai, aap ki baat ka log bara asar laitay hain so kindly daikhy wo humara hero hai.”
Notably, Babar Azam led Pakistan to victory in the tri-nation series played in New Zealand. He concluded the match as the competition’s third-highest run-scorer with 192 runs scored in five innings.
