Honor X40 Launched With 120HZ Screen For Only $214

Honor appears to be out to outdo its Chinese rival Oppo with its latest release, the X40. The Honor X40 is nearly the same price as Oppo’s recently launched K10X, but it has a few advantages over the latter.

Design and Display

The Honor X40’s design earns no style points. It has an intriguing donut-shaped main camera on the back, but its curved display is the standout feature. A curved screen has no advantages over a flat panel, but they are uncommon on mid-range computers. It’s also useful for full-screen gestures.

This is a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The maximum brightness is 800 nits, and the touch sampling rate of 300Hz provides a low input delay. This gives the Honor X40 an advantage over the Oppo K10X, which only has an LCD with lower brightness and poor colour reproduction.

The fingerprint scanner is located beneath the screen.

Internals and Software

The two competitors use the same SoC, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 with 5G connectivity. The Honor X40 has four memory configurations, whereas the Oppo K10X only has two. 6 GB/128 GB, 8 GB/128 GB, 8 GB/256 GB, and 12 GB/256 GB are available.

The phone will boot into the Android 12 operating system, with Honor’s Magic UI 6.1 on top.

Cameras

On the back, there are only two cameras: a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP secondary shooter. Honor calls it the “MATRIX AI VISION CAMERA,” and due to the Snapdragon 695 chip, it can only record 1080p video.

Battery and Pricing

The battery officials and agencies a 5,100 mAh cell matched with 40W fast charging. The retail package also includes a charging cable.

The Honor X40 will be available in three colours: “Rainbow clouds chasing the moon,” “Ink jade green,” and “Phantom night darkness,” according to Google. It has a starting price of $214 in China, and it is unclear whether it will be available on the international market.
